The Slot Machine Instant Win


  1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE CHANCES OF WINNING.
  1. ELIGIBILITY: LIMITED TO LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE 50 UNITED STATES (D.C. INCLUDED, BUT VOID TO RESIDENTS OF MA AND MI) WHO ARE LEGAL AGE SMOKERS, HAVE A VALID PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (PID) PROVIDED BY THE SPONSOR. NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ACQUIRE A PID. PROMOTION VOID IN MA, MI AND WHEREVER PROHIBITED BY LAW. (To obtain a PID, see Rule #4, below.) Employees, officers and directors (and their immediate families [spouse, children, parents, siblings] and those living in their same households) of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company (“Sponsor”), its parent and any of their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and web masters/suppliers are not eligible. By participating, entrants, agree to abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding in all matters relating to this Promotion. Promotion subject to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  1. INSTANT WIN PERIOD: Instant Win begins at 12:00:00 p.m. (noon) Eastern Time (ET) on 2/1/06 and ends at 11:59:59 a.m. ET on 5/1/06. A day begins at 12:00:00 a.m. (midnight) ET and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. ET on the following day (a “Day”), EXCEPT for the first Day, which begins at 12:00:00 p.m. (noon) ET and ends at the following 11:59:59 p.m. ET; and EXCEPT for the last Day, which begins at 12:00:00 a.m. ET (midnight) and ends at the following 11:59:59 a.m. ET. Sponsor’s computer is the official clock for this Instant Win.
  1. TO PLAY: Visit www.camelsmokes.com (the “Website”) during the Instant Win Period or click on the link in the e-mail distributed by the Sponsor. A valid PID issued by Sponsor and password will be required to enter the Instant Win by Internet. A PID can be obtained without cost from the Sponsor. Click on the Instant Win icon, banner or text link and follow the online entry instructions for playing the virtual slot machine. Each time you visit the Website to participate, you must log in using your PID and password. (It is each participant’s sole responsibility to maintain his/her contact information as current. No responsibility is assumed for failure to contact a participant due to that participant’s failure to maintain his/her contact information as current. Contact information may be updated by following the online instructions.) Each participant is responsible for the security of his/her PID and password. Each participant should take precautions to keep his/her PID and password private to prevent unauthorized use. Sponsor will not be responsible for any losses, damages or consequences you may suffer due to careless or unauthorized use of a PID and password. Participants must use only one PID and password and must only use the PID and password assigned to participant by Sponsor. Should any participant attempt to use more than one PID and/or password, or a PID and/or password that was not assigned to participant, that participant will be disqualified.

    Pull the virtual lever’s icon or banner as instructed to find out if you are a winner (a “Play”). Randomly selected times during the Instant Win Period will be chosen by Sponsor, and the first entrant who completes a Play (whose Play is properly received and recorded by Sponsor's computer by following the online instructions) on or immediately after a randomly selected time during the Instant Win Period will win a prize. If you receive a message stating, “Congratulations, you’ve won!,” you win the prize stated (subject to verification). Non-winning messages will read, “Sorry, try again tomorrow.” If you win a prize, you will be notified by e-mail, mail, overnight mail or phone. Non-winning participants will not be contacted.

    Limit one (1) Play per person per Day. Any attempt by any person to obtain more than the stated number of Plays by using multiple/different e-mail accounts, PIDs or any other methods will void all of that person’s Plays and that person will be disqualified and prohibited from returning to the Website. Plays generated by a robotic, programmed, script, macro or other automated means will be disqualified. By participating, entrants may automatically be added to the Sponsor’s e-mail and mail distribution list. For information on how to opt-off the Sponsor’s mail distribution list, see Rule #10. For information on how to opt-off the Sponsor’s e-mail distribution list, see the Privacy Policy on the Website. Opting-off the e-mail distribution list and direct mail list will not affect entrant’s chance of winning. No other form of participation is valid. The information you disclose when you register for this Instant Win will be subject to the Privacy Policy set forth on Sponsor’s Website.

  1. CONSUMER DISCLOSURE: Grand Prize (18): $2,000 (awarded in the form of a check). First Prize (15,000): Lighter utility knife. Approximate Retail Value (ARV): $6. Odds of winning depend on the random time at which prize is available and on the time a particular participant submits a Play. Winners may not substitute, assign or transfer a prize, or redeem a prize for cash, but Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize with a prize of equal or greater value should a stated prize become unavailable. All unclaimed or forfeited Grand Prizes will be awarded in a Second Chance Drawing. ALL UNCLAIMED OR FORFEITED PRIZES (OTHER THAN GRAND PRIZES) WILL NOT BE AWARDED. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO PLAY OR WIN THIS INSTANT WIN. You have not yet won a prize. Plays must be received by 11:59:59 a.m. ET on 5/1/06.
  1. SECOND CHANCE DRAWING: All non-winning participants will be automatically entered into a Second Chance Drawing to be eligible to win any remaining, unclaimed or forfeited Grand Prizes. Limit one (1) entry per person. Provisional Second Chance Drawing winner(s) will be selected in a random drawing held on or about 5/26/06 from among all eligible entries received by an independent judging agency. Provisional winner(s) will be notified by phone, overnight mail or mail on or about 6/2/06. Odds of winning depend on the number of unclaimed or forfeited prizes and the number of eligible entries received. Limit one (1) prize per person of any prize awarded in the Second Chance Drawing.
  1. GENERAL CONDITIONS: By entering, (a) participants agree that R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents are indemnified, released and will be held harmless by participants from any and all liability, for any damages, injuries or losses of any kind to person(s), including death, or property, arising directly or indirectly from the acceptance, possession, misuse or use of prize or his/her participation in this Instant Win or any Instant Win-related activity; and (b) winners grant (and agree to confirm such grant in writing promptly upon request) to Sponsor and those acting under Sponsor’s authority the right to the use of his/her name, photograph, likeness, voice, image, statements and biographical information at any time or times for advertising, trade, publicity and promotional purposes in any media now known or hereafter discovered, worldwide and on the World Wide Web, without review, notification, approval or additional compensation, unless prohibited by law. All winners must be smokers and are subject to age verification. Grand Prize winners may be required to complete, sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability Release and, where lawful, a Publicity Release within fourteen (14) days of notification. Due to the age of majority laws in NE and MS, Grand Prize winners in those states may be required to have additional age of majority signature. If documents are not returned in a timely manner, or if any prize notification or prize is returned as non-deliverable, or if a winner is found to be ineligible or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules, prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner selected in the Second Chance Drawing. Federal, state and local income and other taxes on the prizes, if any, are solely the responsibility of the winners.
  1. LIABILITY LIMITATIONS: Sponsor, its agencies, web masters/suppliers, contractors and vendors are not responsible for lost, late, stolen, misdirected, or non-delivered Plays/entries, or e-mails, or for lost, interrupted or unavailable satellite, network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), Website or other connections availability, accessibility or traffic congestion, miscommunications, or failed computer, network, telephone, satellite, cable hardware, software or lines, or technical failure, or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions, computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic or network, or the incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry or other information or the failure to capture or loss of any such information. Sponsor, its agencies, web masters/suppliers, vendors and contractors are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by Website users, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Instant Win and assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or tampering with or hacking of Website. Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with entry process or operation of Instant Win or Website, to be acting in violation of the terms of the Website or to be acting in a non-sportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to threaten, abuse or harass any other person. Sponsor, its agencies, and web masters/suppliers are not responsible for injury or damage to participants’ or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating in this Instant Win or downloading or copying materials from or use of Website. If, for any reason, Instant Win is not capable of running as planned by reason of infection by computer virus, worms, bugs, tampering, hacking, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes which, in the sole opinion of the Sponsor, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Instant Win, Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend Instant Win and determine winners from entries received prior to action taken, or as otherwise deemed fair and equitable by Sponsor. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded. In the event that any problems with production, seeding, printing, digital, programming or other reasons or errors or any other reasons cause more than stated number of prizes in any prize category as set forth in these Official Rules to be available or claimed, Sponsor reserves the right to award only stated number of prizes (previously not awarded) in that prize category by random drawing among all legitimate eligible prize claimants in that category. In the event of a dispute as to Plays/entries submitted by Internet, the eligible person to whom the PID was issued by the Sponsor will be deemed to be the participant and must comply with these Official Rules.

    IN NO EVENT WILL SPONSOR, ITS PARENT, AFFILIATES, SUBSIDIARIES AND RELATED COMPANIES, THEIR ADVERTISING OR PROMOTION AGENCIES WEB MASTERS/SUPPLIERS, VENDORS, CONTRACTORS OR THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR LOSSES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE INSTANT WIN INTERNET SITE OR DOWNLOADING FROM AND/OR PRINTING MATERIAL DOWNLOADED FROM SAID SITE. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, EVERYTHING ON THIS SITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS,” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. Any Instant Win materials including, without limitation, the offer, these Official Rules, advertising and promotional materials and announcement of winners containing production, printing or typographical errors or obtained outside authorized, legitimate channels are automatically void; and the liability of Sponsor, if any, is limited to the replacement of such materials and recipient, by participating, releases Sponsor, its parent, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, the judging organization and their respective officers, directors, employees and agents from any and all losses, claims or damages that may result therefrom. Any inconsistencies between any advertising or other promotional announcements and these Official Rules shall be resolved in favor of these Official Rules.
  1. REMOVAL FROM MAILING LIST: To have your name and address removed from Sponsor’s mailing list, call, toll-free, 1-800-665-6381 and follow the instructions to be removed from the customer database. Your name and address will be removed from Sponsor’s mailing list within sixty (60) days after receipt of your request, after which time no further mailings will be sent to you.
  1. DISPUTE RESOLUTION/CHOICE OF LAW: Except where prohibited, by participating, you agree that: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of participant(s) and Sponsor, its vendors, contractors, agencies and partners shall be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law of any jurisdiction. You agree that any action at law or in equity arising out of or relating to this Instant Win shall be filed only in the state or federal courts located in the State of North Carolina, and you hereby consent and submit to the personal jurisdiction of such courts for the purposes of litigating any such action. Except where prohibited, by participating in this Instant Win, you agree that: (a) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Instant Win shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; (b) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with participating in this Instant Win but in no event attorneys' fees; and (c) under no circumstances will any participant be permitted to obtain awards for and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.

WINNERS’ LIST: To obtain a list of major prize winners (available upon completion of the Instant Win), mail your name and address in a first-class stamped envelope to: Camel 2006 Slot Machine Instant Win, P.O. Box 5525, Dept. 2550-734, Norwood, MN 55583-5525 for receipt by 6/5/06. Winners’ List will be mailed after winners have been determined.
